Distributed Upload Media (DUM) was an idea that emerged in the early 2000’s, but it was ahead of its time.
It’s only now that the concept is truly feasible, with today’s bandwidth and cloud infrastructure, reborn with a service architecture.
I’ve been following it and Gartner lists Distributed Upload Media as a Service (DUMaaS) as a Magic Quadrant technology for 2023.
It seems that top tech firms agree, as all of the MAANG companies have invested a collective $3.5B in DUMaaS in the last 2 quarters alone.
